Fresh breath

Brushing your teeth or flossing causes little cuts and scrapes on your gums. Those make it easier for STIs and HIV to be transmitted. That's why it's better to rinse your mouth with mouthwash if you want to have fresh breath before sex.

Tiny wounds in your gums

A lot of men want to have fresh breath before they kiss, tongue-kiss or have oral sex. Brushing your teeth and flossing often leave tiny temporary wounds in your gums. Those little cuts and scrapes make it easier for you to contract and transmit STIs when you are kissing and having oral sex.

That is especially the case with highly infectious blood-borne infections such as Hepatitis B. Protect yourself by getting three free vaccinations against Hepatitis B.

Use mouthwash instead of flossing or brushing your teeth

Prior to having oral sex, it's not a good idea to brush your teeth or floss. It is smarter to use mouthwash to make your mouth feel fresh.
